NEW plans for Oxford City Farm will be unveiled at a consultation event on Saturday.

The farm’s steering group wants to keep animals and grow crops and trees on land in East Oxford to help educate people and encourage a healthy lifestyle.

Since reaching a lease agreement with Oxfordshire County Council for 2.3 acres of land off Cornwallis Road, the group is hoping residents will give ideas and feedback.

The consultation event will have a new model of plans for the site, a children’s table – to allow youngsters a chance to say what they would like to see – and a table for new volunteers to sign up.

Chairwoman Lucie Mayer said: “We want to involve people both in supporting and volunteering to help in the City Farm programme of work, and to ensure that local residents know all about the project.

“Our earlier consultations were primarily about the principle of having a farm off Cornwallis Road. They successfully identified and dealt with some initial concerns expressed by the public, such as noise, traffic and security. Now we can consult the community and anyone else who wishes to be involved about more of the proposals for the farm as we begin to work on the site.

“We extend a welcome to local residents and others who may be interested to visit the consultation, and become involved.”

The consultation will be held at the Florence Park Community Centre, in Cornwallis Road, from 2pm to 4.30pm.
