A MAN was punched and his phone was smashed during a robbery in Headington yesterday.

The 22-year-old victim was sitting on a bench next to a bus stop in Wood Farm Road, when a man got off a bus on the opposite side of the road and snatched the victim’s phone.

After taking the victim’s phone, he demanded money in return for the phone, and when the victim complied, he punched him and smashed his phone.

The man then tried to get on a bus that did not stop, and chased it down to the Slade.

The thief was described as black, between 24 and 28 years old and about 6ft 6ins with a short beard.

He was wearing blue jeans, white trainers and a waist-length jacket.
