A FIRE that blazed through trees and wasteland between Yarnton and the Peartree Interchange has been put out.

An Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said fire fighters extinguished the flames after being called out at 3.37pm.

He added that two fire engines were sent to tackle the fire near The Bungalow Loop Farm.

Chris Knight, from Marston, said he saw black smoke when travelling home from work in Witney.

He said: "I just saw a cloud of black smoke stretch across the field towards the A34. I saw two fire engines and about four fire fighters.

"I’m not sure what was on fire, but it there was just black smoke everywhere."
