YOUNGSTERS got close up with nature and science on a bumper day at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.
The museum hosted its annual science bonanza along with the Pitt Rivers Museum as part of the Oxfordshire Science Festival, which runs until March 30.
The Wow! How? event featured 28 stalls where young people could find out more about science and nature and meet scientists as well as conducting experiments of their own.
Alexander Crawford, from Stanton Harcourt, got his hands on a giant millipede and other animals as part of the day’s events.

The seven-year-old said: “Probably my favourite part was the animal holding.
“As well as the millipede, I held a giant cricket and a leaf insect, an insect which can disguise itself as a leaf.”
The festival aims to enthuse people about science by hosting events and giving them the chance to talk to scientists. Visit oxfordshiresciencefestival.com.
