YOUNG book lovers at schools across Oxfordshire have taken part in World Book Day.
At Rye St Antony School in Headington, children’s author Belinda Roberts spoke during assembly on Thursday and signed copies of her books in the library.
Pupils also invented their own fictional tales.
In Didcot, students at Didcot Girls’ School were invited to dress as their favourite character from literature.
And pupils from Abingdon Preparatory School paraded in costume as their favourite animals.
Alex Drake, five, came as Roald Dahl’s Hungry Crocodile.
The school held storytime sessions in the library with prizes for the best costumes.
Sainsbury’s supermarket in Pioneer Square, Bicester, joined the fun, with volunteers from Assisted Reading for Children in Oxfordshire holding a day-long storytime session.
