A £50 dress has become a worldwide sensation after it was discovered that no-one could agree on its colour.

The dress, which can be purchased from Roman Originals, shot to fame after a group of friends posted a photograph of it online.

Ahead of Oxford Fashion Week, which starts on Monday, director Carl Anglim gave his opinion.

He said: "I want to pretend I can see both but I see white and gold."

He added that ahead of next week's Genesis show, which features wearable tech and 3D printing, Fashion Week staff have been looking through innovative pieces for next season.

These included a photochromic dress that changes according to temperature, and a garment that 'reads' the eyes of those in the room and looks different to different people.

He added: "But this looks like more of a biological function.

"If we can get one we will put it down the runway and people can have a vote."
