CHILDREN at Rose Hill Primary School may have to wait until half-term next week to get their heating fixed.

The Oxford Mail reported on Saturday that pupils at Rose Hill Primary School were forced to wear jackets, hats and gloves because temperatures in five classrooms had dropped to 10C.

Yesterday Oxfordshire County Council sent in contractors to fix the boiler.

But the engineers told the school that the boiler posed a bigger problem than anticipated, meaning it would take longer to fix than the school had expected.

“They will continue to work on i. But I am concerned about my pupils. We have not been told when it will be repaired.”

County council cabinet member for business and customer services Nick Carter said: “There was never an agreed date. I anticipate that the problem will be fixed in time for the children when they get back from half-term and we have sent in 14 temporary heaters.”
