A MOTHER of four told a jury she has “no reason” to lie about robbing a woman who was allegedly having an affair with her husband.

Diana Reid, of Morton Road, Islington, is accused of attacking Rosalyn Crosnier Bellaistre on December 30, 2013, near McDonald’s in Headington.

She denies committing the offence with the aid of Charlotte Marshall, 43, and Monica Thomas, 26, both of Salesian Gardens, Temple Cowley, Oxford, who have both also pleaded not guilty to robbery.

The complainant claims she was approached by Reid, who accused her of having a sexual relationship with her husband Winston Nichol, who is also known as Garfield.

She told a jury on Tuesday that the 49-year-old grabbed her hair, punched her in the face and stole her handbag.

Miss Crosnier Bellaistre also alleges Marshall and Thomas held her and kicked her when she fell on the floor.

Yesterday Reid was cross-examined at Oxford Crown Court by prosecutor Adam Pearson, and repeatedly said she was punched first by her alleged victim.

But the barrister asked why she answered “no comment” to questions in her interview, instead of denying the crime. He said: “You were waiting to see what the evidence was so you could fit your story around it, weren’t you?”

Reid replied: “I don’t have any reason to pretty up things as you have indicated.

“I told my duty solicitor what happened, he told me to go no comment.”

The trial continues.
