A 36-YEAR-OLD man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of money laundering offences after a series of raids across the city.

Thames Valley Police spokeswoman Hannah Williams said officers issued warrants at addresses in Park End Street, Banbury Road in Summertown, and in Cottesmore Road, Rose Hill yesterday morning.

Ms Williams said Oxford Market convenience store and neighbouring Station Barber in Park End Street were searched by officers, but no arrests were made at either of those addresses.

She added: “A 36-year-old man from Oxford was arrested on suspicion of money laundering offences and is currently in custody.

“The cash was seized in Cottesmore Road, Rose Hill, while a small quantity of suspect Class A drugs was seized from a property in Banbury Road, Summertown.

“The arrest of the man took place at the address in Rose Hill.”

Dana Khoshnaw, 22, who works at Oxford Market, said he was handcuffed while officers searched the shop and flats above.

He added: “About 20 officers arrived and searched in the shop and upstairs in the flats but as far as I know they found nothing.

“We had to shut the shop for about an hour and a half while the police were here, which was not very convenient for our business.”
