THE Bishop of Manchester, the Rt Rev David Walker, will visit an Oxford peace organisation to mark the end of its centenary year.

The Fellowship of Reconciliation (FoR) said it would hold a special service in the Church of St Mary the Virgin, in High Street, on January 17, for all to attend. It will celebrate its founding in 1914.

Richard Bickle, FoR chairman, said: “The vital work of reconciliation has rarely enjoyed a higher profile, featuring as it did in the Queen’s Christmas Message, the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Christmas sermon and the Pope’s New Year address.”

Fellowship director Millius Palayiwa will also retire after the service.

Mr Bickle added: “We recognise his significant contribution and thank him for the successful co-ordination of the centenary celebrations.”
