CHRISTMAS is seen as a commercialised time of year, but at the Story Museum youngsters went back to basics as they designed their own cards.
Comic artist Neill Cameron was on hand to help children learn new drawing techniques at the museum in Pembroke Street, Oxford, and create cards with a twist to give to friends and relatives.
St Helen and St Katherine School pupil Emily Cassidy was one of the budding artists who took part in Wednesday’s event.

The 11-year-old from Wallingford said: “I really enjoyed doing it. We learned new drawing skills and at the end we used our new skills in a comic that we made.
“We learned how to draw using little circles and triangles to make shapes. We had to combine something that was Christmassy with something that was not Christmassy, so I drew Father Fishmas, who was a penguin dressed as Father Christmas.”
The regular visitor added: “I really enjoy all the events at the Story Museum and I am looking forward to the Comic Club they are going to start here.”
