A CHIPPING Norton man made a sick child’s dream come true by organising a performance car driving experience.

Bill Chatterton had been given a Supercar Passenger Ride pass from Vision Motorsport, which offers rally driving, performance car and off-road driving experiences on a circuit at Great Tew.

Mr Chatterton had heard about the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which grants wishes to very sick children, and asked charity officials whether they knew anyone who could make use of the pass.

Starlight told him that a 13-year-old boy named Keir Thompson, from Penrith in Cumbria, had said that his biggest wish was to go for a drive in an Italian-built Lamborghini sports car.

The charity was able to arrange for Keir, who suffers from cystic fibrosis, and his family to travel to Vision Motorsport’s base to meet Mr Chatterton and give Keir the chance to ride in a Lamborghini Gallardo, which has a top speed of 192mph, and also a supercharged Ariel Atom that goes from 0 to 60mph in under three seconds.

He also enjoyed a visit to the nearby Heythrop Zoological Gardens as part of his visit to West Oxfordshire.

Keir’s mother, Paula Thomp-son, said: “We had a wonderful weekend.

“Keir has been bursting with happiness. I can’t thank everyone enough who was involved in making Keir’s dreams come true.

“Bill Chatterton was such a kind man to donate his driving pass and Vision Motorsport were kind to let Keir ride in two different sports cars – he loved both of them.”
