A charity concert organised by a Dutch octogenarian trumpet player raised £1,000 for two Oxford charities.

Frank Wolff, 85, who has lived in Oxford most of his life, put on the Oxford Brass Players concert at Cowley Conservative Club on Saturday night.

His daughters, Elaine Williams and Marilyn Elliot, performed alongside the band of 30. The former Cowley car plant worker raised £500 each for Helen and Douglas House children’s hospice in Magdalen Road and Sobell House hospice, Headington.

Over the 18 years he has been organising charity brass concerts, Mr Wolff has raised £41,000.

His next fundraising concert will be at the Conservative club on January 1. To buy tickets call him on 01865 326271.
