A woman has been knocking on elderly people’s doors around Wolvercote asking for money to pay for her electricity meter, said police.
Police said they had received reports over the “last few days” and described the woman as aged between 35 and 40, about 5ft tall, slight with long brown hair.
A Thames Valley Police spokeswoman said: “Never buy or sell any goods at the door or allow unknown callers into your home.
“Please alert neighbours and remain extra vigilant at this time.”
