AN OXFORD Brookes student has told of excitement at jumping out of an aeroplane with a Spice Girl to celebrate getting the all-clear from cancer.

Lauren Carr, 20, joined Mel C in the jump for Channel 4 programme Stars At Your Service, which gives cancer sufferers the chance to fulfil life-long dreams as part of the channel’s Stand Up To Cancer fundraising campaign.

The primary education student was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer in November 2011, which was treated but returned in 2013.

Following more treatment Miss Carr is in the clear and set to qualify as a primary school teacher next year.

She said: “I drew up a bucket list of 30 things I wanted to do before I was 30.

“A skydive was at the top of this list, so when I saw the Stars at your Service opportunity, I had to apply.

“I am a massive Spice Girls fan and absolutely love Mel C. Doing a skydive with her was a dream come true and absolutely surreal.

“She was lovely and so supportive. We were both nervous but loved it.”
