JOHN Cotton has been chosen as the new leader of South Oxfordshire District Council.
Conservative councillor Mr Cotton, who represents the Sandford ward, was elected the new leader at last night’s meeting of the council, after being chosen as the new leader of the ruling Tory group.
He has been appointed leader following the death of council leader Ann Ducker last month.
She was involved with the council for more than 30 years.
Mr Cotton, who has been a district councillor for about 16 years, said: “I am delighted.
“Ann will be a tough act to follow. Experience counts for a lot and Ann had heaps of it.”
