SCREAMS will fill Oxford Castle this month as the historical attraction opens its “Terror Tuesdays”.

Tour guide Ian Jackson is one of many characters lurking in dark cells at the city’s former prison, where visitors can expect flesh-crawling encounters.

Mr Jackson is a teacher at Pegasus School in Blackbird Leys but previously worked at the castle for five years.

He said: “I now work part-time as a tour guide because although now I am in teaching I loved it so much I didn’t want to give it up completely.

Our top stories

“There is so much important history at Oxford Castle, for the city and England, and the tours are really good too.

“Terror Tuesdays are really good, especially in the run-up to Halloween when the castle and prison can be quite frightening.

“The tour is a real ‘no holds barred’ terror experience that people do in groups. It starts off with a bit of history but quickly descends into a ghost hunt and it is always great seeing people’s reactions when they jump around and scream.”

Terror Tuesdays take place throughout October and November – tickets cost £8 For more information, visit oxfordcastleunlocked.co.uk
