AIRCRAFT from across the world descended on RAF Brize Norton last week to take part in a flypast at last week’s Nato leaders’ summit meeting.
The planes’ crews took part in planning, training and rehearsals on Wednesday, with RAF Typhoon and Voyager planes and the Red Arrows display team working with counterparts from the US and Canada, as well as Polish crews flying Russian-built MiG-29 fighter jets.
RAF Brize Norton’s Group Captain Eddie Cole said: “It was a very busy period for us here at RAF Brize Norton, with the high numbers of additional multi-national aircraft arriving and departing for the Nato summit, against the backdrop of continuing to support operations.
“I had a team of very capable individuals managing this event and dealing with all the challenges it presented. It was a superb flypast for the summit and an event of which we were very proud to be a part.”
