A 40-year-old man was killed after his bicycle and a 4x4 vehicle collided, an inquest heard yesterday.

Alan Lawlor, a clinical researcher from Staunton Road, Headington, Oxford, died on Sunday in Brill Hill, Piddington, near Bicester. Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court heard he had braked heavily on a corner while cycling, losing control before colliding with a Land Rover Freelander.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and died of abdominal injuries. The inquest was adjourned until March 10.
