PROFESSOR Kevin Talbot could be feeling icy towards workpals drenching him in water had it not all been for a good cause.

The neurology expert, who works at the John Radcliffe Hospital’s Motor Neurone Disease (MND) centre, took part in the ice bucket challenge, which fundraises for the MND Association, on Tuesday afternoon.

He suffered a soaking along with colleagues from the centre, as part of the internet charity craze.

The 51-year-old said: “It was good, it was not as bad as we had been expecting. It was a bit of a shock at the start though.

“Hopefully we will raise lots of money.”

Professor Talbot researches how people get MND and how it can be prevented.

His work, and the Oxford clinic, is funded by the MND Association.

So far more than £2m has been raised for the organisation through donations from those taking on the challenge. He said: “It is fantastic. In the last month the charity has been given more than it normally receives in a year.”
