YOUNGSTERS banged their drums with enthusiasm as they took part in a Brazilian samba workshop last week at Pegasus School, in Blackbird Leys.

Children sang, danced and played musical instruments on Friday during a four-day Myths and Magical Creatures workshop.

The event was paid for by Blackbird Leys Parish Council and helped children work towards their Discover Arts Award.

Director of WorldBeatsMusic Richard Ashton, from Appleford-on-Thames, who ran the samba workshop, said: “The kids loved it, they absolutely loved it. They were really engaged and behaved fantastically well. It was good fun. I really enjoyed it.”

The day was organised by Oxfordshire County Council’s music service. Manager Liz Stock said: “Everyone enjoyed themselves. It went really well and the children will all receive an award certificate.”
