A WITNEY woman shaved her head to support a childhood friend battling cancer.
Alison Meekison, 43, raised £780 for Cancer Research UK with the sponsored shave at the Synolos shop, in Wesley Walk, on Saturday, July 19.
She had her head shaved by her friend, 41-year-old hairdresser Andrea Goodenough, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
Mother-of-two Ms Meekison said: “We have been friends since we were teenagers.
“I wanted to help Andrea keep positive, when the treatment she is receiving is causing her hair to fall out.
“I know how devastating that can be for chemotherapy patients, and I’ve also known many people, both young and old, who have sadly passed away from this cruel and horrible disease.”
Ms Meekison raised funds through sponsorship, raffle, lucky dip and selling jewellery hand-made by her 20-year-old daughter Bess, as well as cakes.
