THE Oxford Mail has received 33 nominations and applications for the Oxfordshire’s Business Mother of the Year Award.

This is the first year the NatWest Venus Awards will celebrate Oxfordshire’s businesswomen, and is sponsored by the Oxford Mail alongside North Oxford Garage BMW.

There are 15 categories in the competition, including Business of the Year, Business Woman of the Year, Inspirational Woman and Lifetime Achievement.

The awards were started in 2009 by mum-of-four Tara Howard, from Bournemouth.

She said: “I am well aware of the struggles that women sometimes face. I wanted to make sure they get their deserved recognition.”

The Oxford Mail judges will narrow the Business Mother of the Year entries down to a top 25, who will then each film a one-minute video in a special event on Tuesday, September 2.

The 10 best videos will then go online and the public will be able to vote for the winner who will attend a ceremony in Sutton Coldfield on November 14.
