Watch: Protest to cause disruption in Oxford + Video

A PROTEST by the Oxford Palestine Solidarity Campaign is expected to block a road in Summertown this evening.

The group will be holding a non-violent protest outside BBC Oxford in Banbury Road at 6.30pm and is expected to last for up to two hours.

Oxford Bus Company said the protest will block the road and the City2 and 500 services may be diverted as a result.

The campaign group said: “Join the demonstration the BBC can't miss - on their own doorstep. The BBC’s reporting of Israel's deadly assault on Gaza fails to explain the years of occupation and siege Palestinians have endured. We say, give the full picture - report the truth on Gaza.”

Wouldn't protesting outside the Israeli embassy be more appropriate ? If the BBC is the target then surely, making a fuss outside the studio of a local station where News editorial policy is not decided will not achieve much. Perhaps the protesters do not want to go to that much trouble.
This way they can cause a lot of ggravation to people who have no influence but make themselves feel good about "doing something".

Is there an Israeli Embassy in Oxford? LOL Oxford is renown for protests; not a student if you haven't been to a protest. At least they are doing something, as for outside the BBC, probably the most perfect place to get as much coverage as possible, but I have to agree editorial policy is not decided in Summertown, I have to ask does anyone at BBC news decide on what news is shown? I thought it was all corporate rule now and New World Order; don't really want to see babies with their guts hanging out while you are eating your Iceland lasagne do we. Free Gaza, but free it to where..running out of room now, and the rockets don't really pack a punch.

It made the local BBC news. I guess the BBC didn't have to go far either.
