007 Goldfinger Aston Martin drives too hard a bargain
Updated 6:52am Tuesday 15th July 2014 in News
A bid of £320,000 was not enough to win the Aston Martin thought to be responsible for the iconic brand bcoming the car of choice for James Bond.
Talks are now thought to be ongoing between the 1955 Aston Martin DB 2/4’s owner and the highest bidder after the car went under the hammer at the Blenheim Palace event. The iconic Aston Martin was among 91 classic cars and 90 motorcycles being auctioned at the palace grounds, in Woodstock, on Saturday.
The DB 2/4 belonged to a neighbour of Bond author Ian Fleming and is thought to be what inspired him to switch his fictional secret agent into a DBIII in the novel Goldfinger. That evolved in to the DB5 being used in the film of the same name.
