Pupils past and present enjoy Marston school’s diamond day

PUPILS and staff past and present celebrated the 60th anniversary of St Nicholas’ Primary School in Old Marston at a diamond jubilee event yesterday.

Every student made a diamond hat to wear to a street party thrown by the school, and former pupils were able to reminisce about their own school days thisisoxfordshire:

and watch a Punch and Judy show.

Alan Longford, 61, who went to St Nicholas’ more than 50 years ago, said: “It was a lovely occasion for the children and it was great to look through all the old photos from my time at the school, which has changed a lot since my day, mostly for the better.”

Pupils were captivated by memories and enjoyed hearing stories from the school’s past and how education has changed since the school opened in 1954.
