FIREFIGHTERS in Oxfordshire marked 40 years of proud service by showing off their life-saving skills.
Visitors to Gloucester Green, Oxford, on Saturday were shown how water rescues are carried out, a mock-up of a road traffic accident, and an example of a chip pan fire.
Thames Valley Police trainee Laura White, 23, who attended with friend Shaun Northover, said: “We had a go with the oxygen masks and watched the chip pan fire display. They also showed us how they cut people out of cars after an accident.”
Group manager Gary Couper shows Laura White how to use breathing apparatus.
Vintage fire engines were on display, as well as information about the fundraising efforts crews have completed for the Fire Fighters Charity, which supports injured firefighters.
