A research team, including Oxford University scientists, have discovered three supermassive black holes.

The holes, in a galaxy more than four billion light years away, could help astronomers in the search for the “ripples in spacetime” – gravitational waves – as predicted by Albert Einstein.

It could lead to scientists in the future to understand how black holes shape galaxies.
