CHILDREN in Kidlington dressed up as hippies to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their primary school.
Pupils at St Thomas More Catholic Primary School took part in themed events based on the 60s throughout the day and cut a cake before enjoying a picnic lunch.
Evanthea Marsh, school administrator, said: “Everyone had a really good time, and the children were really excited.”
Former pupil David Duffy, the deputy editor of our sister paper The Oxford Times, said: “I have nothing but fond memories of my time at St Thomas More.
“It was a friendly school, with a great ethos and superb learning environment that led to excellent results. The staff, led by the headteacher Jim Foley, created a warm, welcoming atmosphere, where every child was encouraged to achieve the best that they possibly could.”
Liam Gamble, 10, said: “It was amazing and everyone was dressed up. And well it was just the best day of my life and the sight was amazing.”
Hayley Evans, nine, said: “It was brilliant.”
