PROUD parents Julie and Drew Brown, who abseiled 100ft down the John Radcliffe Hospital, have raised over £400 for sick babies.

The couple took on the charity challenge for its baby care facilities, after their twin daughters Beaux and Scarlett spent 10 weeks at the hospital after being born 13 weeks early in March.

Mrs Brown, from Steeple Aston, said: “I hate heights but I knew I was doing it for a great reason and that was enough to get me going.

“The worst bit was leaning down off the edge of the roof, I didn’t think my harness would support me. Every bit of my brain thought ‘What are you doing?’ “My husband is an ex-marine so he was showing off and bouncing off the walls, but he waited for me halfway down so we finished together.

“When I hit the bottom it was such a rush of adrenaline, it felt really great.”

The 44-year-old said: “We want to raise £500 and we’re nearly there, with gift aid we’ve got about £435.”
