GEORGE Street in Oxford has reopened to buses today as construction work continues.

The closure began on May 12 with temporary traffic lights set up at the junction of Hythe Bridge Street and Worcester Street.

Oxfordshire County Council spokesman Martin Crabtree said one lane of George Street has now reopened, with temporary traffic lights allowing two-way traffic on George Street.

Stagecoach said most of its buses would resume the normal routes through George Street, while Oxford Bus Company said its park-and-ride 300 service would continue to avoid George Street, running in two sections from Redbridge to the city centre and from Pear Tree to the city centre.
