THERE was a strong show of faith, unity and balloons this week when Oxford’s faith communities turned out for their annual Friendship Walk.

About 250 people took part in the processsion, which started at Jericho’s Oxford Synagogue and carried on to the Central Mosque in Manzil Way, off Cowley Road.

It was organised by the Oxford Council of Faiths.

Jewish representative Penny Faust said: “It was a great day with a friendly atmosphere and the weather ended up being really good as well.

“I have a lovely email from someone who had attended afterwards which said it was more like a party than a faith walk, which is exactly what we hoped for. Seeing people of different faiths showing solidarity is always a good feeling and those relationships between groups are particularly strong in Oxford.”

The event was sponsored by The Oxford Council of Faiths and the South East England Faith Forum.

Its route went from Richmond Road, via the University Church of St Mary the Virgin in High Street, to the Central Mosque.
