THREE care homes in Oxfordshire are getting ready to step back in time for their vintage-themed National Care Home Open Day events.

Iffley Residential and Nursing Home, Wantage Nursing Home and Yarnton Residential and Nursing Home will be taking a trip down memory lane on Friday for National Care Home Open Day.

The Iffley home will have live opera music from Canadian singer Elizabeth Norris, bunting and decorations, 1950s costumes and high tea in the afternoon.

One of the home’s residents Violet Falkous, 85, said: “I am looking forward to celebrating the home’s open day. It will be nice for us to have a party and our favourite opera singer is coming along. We all love Elizabeth Norris.”

The home manager Pamela Harper said: “National Care Home Open Day is a wonderful opportunity for our residents and team to welcome the local community into our home.”

The home in Anne Greenwood Close, Iffley, will be opening its doors to the public between 11am and 4pm.
