A MECHANIC died after a car he was attempting to fix at his home fell and crushed him.
Michael King, 61, of 17 Marcham Road, Drayton, Abingdon, “had been lying under a Land Rover working on it” on May 31, Oxfordshire Coroner’s Court heard yesterday.
Coroner Darren Salter said: “It appears the jack had given way.”
A spokesman for the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust confirmed Mr King was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
However, Mr King suffered a cardiac arrest before he arrived at the hospital, the court heard.
His condition deteriorated after he was admitted, and he died at hospital on June 5.
The cause of death was certified as “hypoxic brain injury due to cardiac arrest”, said the coroner.
The inquest into Mr King’s death has been adjourned until October 15.
