THE yellow jersey is synonymous with cycling so a pair of keen cyclists hope representing Oxford United brings them extra luck on a 150-mile challenge.
United supporter Daniel Theobald and David Pritchard, who covers the U’s for the Oxford Mail, will be among 200 riders from 60 Football League clubs tackling the trip from London to Amsterdam.
The two-day event is in aid of Prostate Cancer, the league’s official charity partner and the Oxford duo are looking to raise more than £2,500 between them.
Mr Theobald, 34, has been a U’s fan for almost 30 years.
After completing the London to Brighton charity ride last summer, the private banking manager from Abingdon was keen to take on a bigger journey.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to the unknown of cycling somewhere new and not knowing what to expect.”
Setting off from Leyton Orient’s Matchroom Stadium today, the cyclists are then due to stop off at Colchester United on the way to Harwich.
