THE Queen’s Baton will come to Oxford tomorrow at the Cutteslowe Summer Festival.
It will arrive at Sunnymead Park between 3pm and 4pm, and will be carried by Oxford’s four batonbearers – Juliet Field, 67, Simon Price, 16, Ian Warland, 50, and Jonny Pemberton, 33.
They were selected by Oxford City Council because of their contributions towards sport in the city.
Mrs Field is a trustee and volunteer at the Cutteslowe Community Association and Cherwell Gymnastics Club.
Mr Price and Mr Pemberton were volunteers for the Ping! Oxford project last year, and Mr Price is also the youth ambassador for the Get Batty project, which encourages young people to take up table tennis. Mr Warland is an official at Oxford City Athletic Club.
The procession will be accompanied by the Larkrise Primary School Samba Band and the festival will have free sport sessions and a zumbathon.
The baton has visited 70 countries ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow from July 23 to August 3.
