IT was not just children taking advantage of the half term activities this week.

Anna Byrom, 24, made a pink and blue butterfly wall hanger at a scrap art session at The Mix in Wantage on Wednesday.

She said: “It’s made out of sticky back plastic. You can trap coloured paper in between the layers and then it looks really shiny and professional on the outside.

“Crafting is one of my hobbies, I really enjoy it.”

Miss Byrom, from Wantage, who works at Sainsbury’s, said: “I used to go to a craft session at the Vale and Downland Museum in Wantage every week. I make lots of different things.”

She gives her craft creations as gifts to friends and family and decorates her home with them. Her most recent creation now hangs in her bedroom window.

THESE two youngsters put their skills to the test to make paper fruit and vegetables at Oxford’s Botanic Garden.

Three-year-old Miriam Gower made strawberries with a hand from older brother Henry.

Henry, six, a Larkrise Primary School pupil, said: “I liked the greenhouses where we got to make things.”

The youngsters popped along to a half term Healthy Gardens event at the garden in Rose Lane.
Mum Chrissy Gower said: “It was good fun and the rain held off.”

SIDE by side this portrait has a striking resemblance to the artist.

Five-year-old Aurelia Moran, from Milton, made sure she added her hairclip to the picture, when she took part in half term doodling and drawing sessions at the Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot.

The St Michael’s School pupil, who was joined by her brother Dylan, six, on Tuesday said: “I enjoyed the drawing. I gave her a red hair pin and it was part of my picture.”

Marketing and audience development assistant James Douglas said: “They could drop in as many times as they wanted. Children make a portrait and we put up their work at our open exhibition.”
