A member of the Oxford Union’s committee has resigned, citing “an irreconcilable conflict in personal loyalties and priorities”.

Anna Bazley handed in her notice yesterday in which she said: “I’m sorry this communication comes at such a delicate time, but as many of you are aware this is a decision I have been contemplating for a while.”

The union president Ben Sullivan was arrested on May 6 on suspicion of rape and attempted rape and released on bail without charge.

Since then the union has seen treasurer Charles Malton resign, as well as several high-profile speakers cancel their talks.
