STUDENTS at Oxford Academy got a runner for their money yesterday.

Olympic 1,500-metre silver medallist Steve Cram MBE dropped in on the Littlemore School to share some of his stories with teenagers there.

He helped teach an athletics lesson and took part in an question-and-answer session for star-struck students.

Bruce Nheu Lay, 15, said: “It was really enjoyable and fun meeting Steve, he is an inspiration.”

Mr Cram became a World, Olympic, European and Commonwealth medallist and broke three world records. He was named BBC Sports Personality of the year in 1983 and received his MBE in 1986.

He is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 5 Live, and commentates on athletics for the BBC.

PE teacher Alastair Tucker said: “It was genuinely inspirational – he came across as a really nice person.”
