FRIENDS and family of a Horspath pub landlord hit by a car on a holiday in Portugal held a fundraiser to bring him home last night.
They gathered at The Queen’s Head, where Stan Hawkeswood, 65, has been the landlord for last nine years.
Mr Hawkeswood was hit by a car while on a golf holiday in the Algarve on Saturday, April 26, and suffered a bleed on the brain and broke his leg in two places.
A flight home so he can be treated at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital could cost £16,500 if insurers do not pay out.
Mr Hawkeswood was taken to hospital where he slips in and out of consciousness.
His condition is unchanged, his family said yesterday.
