A BURGLAR has been jailed for stealing £400 from a 70-year-old man in a “very well-planned” break-in.

Adam Kupka, of Field Avenue, Blackbird Leys, admitted one count of burglary carried out on November 13 last year.

The 26-year-old broke into a house in Harpsichord Place, Oxford, owned by Adel Henein, and stole the money from a kitchen drawer.

Paul Harrison, prosecuting, said the complainant didn’t know Kupka and could not understand how it appeared he had gone straight to where the money was kept.

He told Recorder Patrick Hamlin that text messages found on the defendant’s phone showed he had been planning the burglary with a man named Andy New for several days.

Mr Harrison added that Kupka was arrested after glass on his clothes was matched to a broken window at the house.

Recorder Hamlin said the defendant was a persistent burglar who also targeted schools and churches.

He told Kupka: “This was a very well-planned domestic burglary.

“You had been planning this burglary for days and clearly knew his habits.

“And you knew where that money was kept.”

Investigating officer Dc Emma Thompson said: “Burglary is an unpleasant crime.

“Justice has been served and the victims can now move on with their lives.”
