CHILDREN at Barton Leisure Centre in Oxford were wowed when medal-winning swimmers came to visit them.
Women’s swimming marathon 10km Olympic bronze medalist Cassie Patten joined Adam Whitehead, 100m breaststroke Commonwealth gold medalist, to offer top sports tips. Siblings Catrin, eight, and Owen Rawstorne, six, met the athletes and took part in a training session.
Owen, who said he liked the snorkeling because it made him look like Star Wars villain Darth Vader, said: “It was super cool.”
Mum Jenny Crewe, 39, of New Osney, said: “They stayed in the pool for three hours because they didn’t want to leave. Both of them had a brilliant time, they were in awe of being in the same pool as these people who have achieved so much.
“They were beaming.”
