THESE boots were made for walking.

And Oxford Playhouse’s Jane Hornsby will truly put them to the test by stomping the 1,187 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

The 54-year-old from Steventon will begin her 63-day trek to raise cash for the theatre’s charity projects on Saturday, May 3.

She said: “I rather like walking but this is something else, and preparing for it has been anything but peaceful. Sorting out the route, the accommodation, thinking about food, carrying enough water, boots falling to bits – the list of things to consider is endless.”

The admin assistant has raised more than £1,000 for the Playhouse so far and hopes to raise a total of £20,000. The Beaumont Street theatre, a registered charity, raises £278,000 each year to subsidise ticket prices and provide opportunities for children.

Mrs Hornsby completed a 250-mile walk from London to Brussels in 2007 and goes for regular walks with her springer spaniel Poppy.

She aims to finish her trek on July 3.
