COUNCILLOR Duncan Enright carried a cross on Good Friday for Churches Together in Witney’s annual Silent Walk of Witness.

The procession started at the Methodist Church and ended at Market Square, where a short open-air service was held.

Afterwards people went to Witney Congregational Church, in High Street, for tea and hot cross buns.

The walk commemorates Christ carrying the cross for his crucifixion through Jerusalem. Mr Enright said: “I was very proud to be part of the event, I found it very moving and I think other people did as well.”

“It is one of the most important dates in the Christian calendar and is a good time for us to come together and show what our faith means.”

Mr Enright is a member of the congregation at Our Lady’s and St Hugh’s Catholic Church.
