THE CO-OP supermarket in Carterton has donated £3,000 to 10 charities, schools and local organisations.

Customers at the shop, in Black Bourton Road, nominated which causes it should support through its community choices programme.

They included Help for Heroes, Helen & Douglas House hospice in Oxford, Carterton Primary School, Gateway Primary School, Edith Moorhouse Primary School, St John the Evangelist Primary School, the Blue Cross animal charity, which is based at Burford, 2267 Brize Norton Squadron Air Training Corps, Carterton Scouts and Brize Norton and Carterton Girl Guides.

Store manager Chris Chandler said: “The programme has been a positive way to raise awareness in-store of the work these charities do and customers have really got involved with the programme, nominating their chosen organisations and sharing the stories behind their choices.

“We hope the money will make a real difference to the charities.”
