AN OXFORD tattoo artist has given Palm Sunday a whole new meaning.
To celebrate the day yesterday, Curly Moore, of Lionel’s Tattoo Studio, Cowley Road, offered three free palm tattoos to clients.
So many people put their names forward that he had to pull names out of a hat, and ended up with one man flying in from Dublin and another who drove from Ipswich.
Mr Moore, 47, who lives in Headington Quarry, said: “It was Palm Sunday, so we thought for amusement we would do three free palms. The tattoos had no religious meaning, it was just for the sake of beautiful art.”
In the Christian calendar, Palm Sunday marks the day that Jesus road into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey and his followers put palm leaves down in his path.
