THE High Street in Oxford has now reopened following an earlier collision between a cyclist and a bus.

The air ambulance was called to the scene to the accident at about 5.20pm.

South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman Michelle Archer said a male cyclist was treated at the scene for head and chest injuries and taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital by a road ambulance.

Stagecoach is diverting a number of its services - 1,12,10,3,8,9 & Tube via Iffley Rd and Donnington Bridge.

Councillor Tony Brett, who lives in Cowley Road, said traffic was queued from The Plain roundabout up to Longwall Street.

He said: "It's always very scary as a cyclist when you see the scene of a collision. I hope he's ok."
