THREE-PIECE girl band Revival triumphed at the Chipping Norton Battle of the Bands to win the chance to play at the Cornbury Music Festival in July.

The group, Hannah Mitchell, 15, Katie Ware, 14, and Emma Pascoe, 14, impressed the judges with their upbeat pop covers and were a popular choice with the audience at Chipping Norton School.

Festival director Hugh Phillimore said the decision was unanimous: “Revival were the best rehearsed, most fun and, for me, are exactly the sound of the summer that the Cornbury Music Festival audience will appreciate.

“This is the sixth year we’ve been working with Chipping Norton School supporting the Battle of The Bands, offering work experience to students and awarding music prizes for the feeder primary schools.

“We very much appreciate the support we, too, have had from the local community over the years and we now feel truly embedded in the local culture.”

Chipping Norton School’s Jazz Band will also be performing at the festival, which runs from Sunday July 4 to Sunday, July 6.
