THE city’s first comedy festival took place at the weekend.
The Oxford Comedy Festival was hosted at the Old Fire Station in George Street.
One of the groups performing on Saturday was Panthercannon, who do improvised storytelling.
Using the audience to come up with a title of the show, they perform an original idea.
Saturday night’s show centred around the title of Prickly Laboratory and the group, which consists of Andrew Pugsley, Ruth Bratt and David Reed told the tale of two professors – one of whom is secretly in love with the other.
Mr Reed, 31, said: “The professor develops a serum, hoping it will make her walk again but it accidentally turns her into a monster.
“The great thing about our shows is you never know where they are going to end up. The audience can pick things which are really random.
“We had a fantastic response and it was a wonderful evening. It would be fantastic if the festival happened again, it’s a brand new thing and it went very well.
“It was my first time performing in Oxford. I have been before for my brother’s graduation, but that was three hours of Latin, so this was much much more.”
