Police have confirmed that it was a man who died when he was struck by a train at the Roundham crossing near Langford Lane on Tuesday.
Though the police have yet to formally identify the victim, they said yesterday it was a man, believed to be in his 20s, from the Kidlington area.
The incident happened just before noon and shut the railway lines between Oxford and Banbury for about two hours.
The case will be passed to the coroner, a British Transport Police spokesman said.
